www wedding websites

How did we survive before the Internet? It makes our lives so much easier, especially when it comes to weddings! It’s not only useful for inspiration and finding suppliers, but you can set up your own wedding website!

Wedding websites can be as simple or as complicated as you like, depending on your technical skills and budget. I have found a few free recourses worth taking a look at.

ZankYou  is a UK based company that lets you access loads of planning tools and offers people a customizable wedding website when you sign up. It has some great features like a creating playlists and opinion polls.

Wedding Wire is an American site, but its still one of my favourites. It has beautiful website templates which again you can fill with lots of different information and functions.

Getting Married has lots of site designs to choose from with a whole host of features. The map function is great and your guests can even tag where they’re staying on your map. It also has a Paypal-powered cash gift lists if you are going down the contribution towards your honeymoon route. You can also host yourself which is great if you want a personalised url.

Even Google has wedding planning resources and free wedding websites options

If you feel a rigid template isn’t for you, how about creating your own using wordpress site. It’s very flexible and lets you keep people updated with blog posts and if your addicted to Twitter or facebook you can integrate these social media aspects into your site.  There are a few wedding themes available, with the wedding specific blissful blog theme. If you want to focus on all those lovely wedding photos then check out Mansion Theme. If you are looking for something a little slicker try the awesome and free Shaken Grid.

What to include on your website:

  • Stories about your engagement or how you met
  • The running order for the day
  • Directions and maps to the venue and hotel
  • Hotel information
  • Wedding Party information. A who’s who will be useful to family and friends that may not know everyone.
  • Gift list details
  • If you like you can have an online RSVP rather than using a response card or you can have them both.
  • If you had a pre-wedding shoot this is a great place to show off those pictures.
